In 1895, military defeat forced China to cede Taiwan to Japan. Taiwan reverted to Chinese control after World War II. Following the Communist victory on the mainland in 1949, 2 million Nationalists fled to Taiwan and established a government using the 1946 constitution drawn up for all of China. Over the next five decades, the ruling authorities gradually democratized and incorporated the native population within the governing structure. In 2000, Taiwan underwent its first peaceful transfer of power from the Nationalist to the Democratic Progressive Party. Throughout this period, the island prospered and became one of East Asia's economic "Tigers." The dominant political issues continue to be the relationship between Taiwan and China - specifically the question of eventual unification - as well as domestic political and economic reform. Taiwan Florist and Taiwan flower delivery is available in Tung-pei-tou Kan-kou-ts'un Fu-li-hsin-ts'un P'eng-lai San-lung Lin-pien Hsia-k'uei-hui Chung-ta-ts'o Wu-t'u-t'an Kang-ch'ien-liao-tzu Yang-ch'ao-tzu Kuang-hsing A-lien Shang-k'uei-hui Tien-chen Shih-hsia Hsiang-ts'un Ta-t'u-liao Ta-shan-liao Tung-an-liao Chih-hu Pen-hsieh Hsiu-lin Yü-huan-hsin-ts'un Hsing-hsin Wu-ying Nan-an Shih-pi-chiao Pei-shih Shang-chou T'ung-t'ou-chiao Fu-t'ou-lun Ch'ao-liao-ts'un Ting-kuei-k'o K'o-tzu-chiao Kuei-lin-li Shih-t'i-p'ing Ku-ch'iu Ho-p'ing-hsin-ts'un Li-t'ou-k'o Ta-p'ai Pan-ling Chiang-hsi-tien San-hsien-li Tien-fen Shang-fu-ts'un An-hsia Ssu-chiao-ch'eng Kung-hsieh Erh-chen Tz'u-en Chien-hsing-ts'un Hsia-wu-li Hsia-liao-pu Nei-li-li Chiao-hsi Wu-shu Shan-hsing Lu-ming Chiu-she-chieh
